Here at Consett Infants we have created a designated space to provide tailored therapeutic interventions for our children and families to access.
The space we created was named the S.N.U.G.G (Safe, Nurturing, Understanding, Growth and Guidance) and was established over the summer of 2019. This is ran by Mrs Richardson who is the School Counsellor registered with the B.A.C.P.
This intervention room allows us to provide a range of therapeutic interventions which are tailored to each child’s needs. We provide a holistic provision to support emotional well-being through interventions such as lego therapy, drawing and talking sessions, emotional regulation, nurture groups, peer mentoring and friendship groups.
Staff also have access to confidential wellbeing support and use the SNUGG to discuss worries or concerns with Mrs Graham and Mrs Richardson.
We can also facilitate supervised contact sessions for children to have access with parents who are under the social services umbrella in a safe familiar space with a range of resources and play equipment.
We offer one to one contracted counselling regulated with the BACP with our fully accredited Counsellor promoting growth and change from a wide range of presenting issues.
We also provide a place for parents and carers to meet with Mrs Richardson confidentially to discuss/sign post and action worries or difficulties our families and children may be experiencing.
This focus on wellbeing that we offer across all aspects of school life is unique and our families will benefit greatly from our wellbeing provisions for many years ahead.
